Reports on the serviceability stage and long-term performance of embedded retaining structures are scarce, even more so in areas with background settlements. This paper presents a case study an excavation permanent sheet pile wall soft sensitive clay Uppsala, Sweden. The monitoring data span short-term four years stage. compared finite element analyses using rate-dependent Creep-SClay1S model. A historic groundwater drawdown is accounted for modeling challenges respect to proper initialization situ stress state, preconsolidation pressure, fabric, bonding discussed. results show that though settlements somewhat underpredicted, horizontal displacements as well anchor forces were captured rather accurately. valuable short- behavior confirms this cost-effective solution construction. Furthermore, highlights accurate description initial state.
